    Derek Fannning is a journalist in the Midland
Tribune newspaper in Birr, Co Offaly, Ireland, and
indulges in country sports, travel as well as writing. His
"An Calun" column in the paper gives a running
commentary on the issues of the day from his
viewpoint and is a topical read for the papers
customers, who whether or not they agree with him,
they respect him. His latest book "The Tunnell" has
just been published, a follow up to "The Northern
Lights", and "Soul Sickness", collections of poetry and
stories respectivly from some years back.
